Precision Feeding of Most Materials with Sterling's New AccuMeter

Sterling is pleased to announce the release of the NEW AccuMeter" series continuous loss-in-weight feeding system, which is designed to meet the needs of today's processor by ensuring product quality through tight control of the manufacturing process. Most pellets, regrind, powders and liquids can be metered into the process, even at very low levels (>50 grams/hour). This system will improve overall product quality, and reduce material usage caused by over-feeding, resulting in reduced product costs.

The AccuMeter™ series features a modular, compact design that provides complete flexibility for changes in your process. Pellets, micro-pellets, powders, liquids, and regrind are all accurately metered, while twin-screw feeders and special agitators are also available for non free-flowing materials. Self-calibration eliminates the need to take manual weight samples or calibrations. Material changeovers are quick and easy, saving time, labor and money.

The integrated AccuMeter™ refill system is designed for up to 40 refills per hour, which can significantly reduce system size and cost, especially when used with integral conveying systems. The vacuum receiver can also be used as the refill hopper to further reduce the overall height of the system. Smaller components allow quick changeover, since less material needs to be drained and fewer components need cleaning.

The AccuMeter™ can feed from 50 grams/hr. to 16,500 lbs./hr. (7,500 kgs./hr.) and can accommodate up to eight precision feeders per extruder, making it one of the most versatile gravimetric blending systems on the market. All components are continuously dosed, and the material flow is constantly monitored and controlled. The system has a cumulative dosing accuracy of ±0.5% and is driven by variable speed DC drive motors.

The control system includes an Allen-Bradley CompactLogix™ programmable controller with a PanelView CE 1000™ color touch screen for maximum user-friendliness. Up to twelve feeders can be controlled through a central control system, and Ethernet communication is available to integrate with other equipment, i.e. extruders, downstream equipment. etc.

The AccuMeter™ product line will complement the existing SPB Series product lines that are designed for very precise metering of various materials in critical applications.
