Shredder

Sterling's Shredders are ideal for pre-sizing hard to granulate product.

Sterling's shredders employ two counter-rotating hex shafts equipped with alternately stacked cutters and spacers. Turning at different speeds, they rip, tear, shear and break large, bulky materials efficiently. The result is maximum productivity with minimal cutting action and less wear.

Sterling shredders and shredder/granulation systems are specially designed to delivery extremely high torque forces to the cutter tips through state of the art speed reduction gearing. Low final speed cutting action virtually eliminates flyback while optimizing energy efficiency.

Electrically driven models with energy efficient motor coupled to gearbox for compact footprint with the same durability and ruggedness of our hydraulic models. Sizes from 14 in. x 20 in.through 60 in. x 33 in. with available horsepowers ranging from 10HP to 30HP.

Hydraulically driven models with axial pistons and variable delivery pumps. An electronic regulator allows the pump - with constant capacity and pre-selected power - to drive remarkable shredding capacity at lower power level. Sizes from 30 in. x 33 in. through 79 in. x 43 in. with available horsepowers ranging from 50HP to 225HP.

Sterling shredders are rugged, fabricated steel construction for long life. Sealed bearings eliminate material contamination.

Hardened steel cutters are available in a choice of cutter width and configurations to suit specific customer applications. Several hopper configurations are also available to ease feeding of material.

The control system includes an automatic reversal feature for the shredder in the event of an overload or jam. When the machine senses excessive load, it will stop automatically, then reverse for several seconds, stopping again before restarting automatically into the forward mode. This circuit can be tied into a feed conveyor or dumper such that it will stop whenever the shredder reverses and restart automatically provided that the shredder has restarted forward.
