Film Reclaim Systems
Sterling's Film Reclaim Systems consist of fluff feed hoppers, fluff tanks, fluff blowers, film grinders, and trim conveying systems. Scrap recycling offers significant cost savings from reduced material consumption because scrap is restored to its original feedstock value. No additional heat history is added to the material, and there is less risk of contamination.
Sterling's agitated fluff storage tanks are designed with
heavy-duty agitators, to handle your hardest-to-feed materials. FT Series agitated fluff storage tanks receive fluff from a film grinder. A typical application includes optional film grinder, to supply the ground fluff, and an optional STFH or STE fluff feeding pedestal for the extruder.
Sterling's film grinders are designed to handle a wide range of materials and can be equipped with our exclusive feed roll assemblies for automatic feeding of scrap roll stock. Sterling's exclusive SGR Series high bulk density film grinders feature high-performance dual-stage design. Scrap film first passes through a primary upper cutting chamber, then through a secondary lower chamber with a smaller screen. SGR grinders provide high throughputs and higher bulk densities with less heat generation and screen blinding.
Sterling's fluff feed hoppers are designed to feed a percentage of the fluff directly back into the extruder throat. The unique dual-stage design ensures that the fluff is mixed with the virgin material above the extruder throat. Each auger is independently adjustable and can be set to follow the extruder screw speed by monitoring a tachometer signal from the extruder.
Sterling's VI Series edge trim conveying systems consist of a high-pressure radial blower, an adjustable blower inlet damper with finger guard, a flanged outlet, and a high-efficiency venturi unit with adjustable venturi tube.
Sterling's FD and FV Series fluff blowers and S Series cyclone separators are high-performance blowers and cyclones designed for fluff.
