APEX YS & APEX ST Series

Sterling's YS and ST Series Sprue Pickers have a unique pressure differential switch used for sprue detection eliminating mechanical switches and adjustment.

The YS and ST Series Sprue Pickers have high performance, speed and flexibility in one exceptionally reliable package. The compact lightweight design permits quick, easy installation. Oilless pneumatic drive system is virtually maintenance free, increasing reliability.

The Sprue Pickers programmable microprocessor controller includes an easy-to-operate, hand-held pendant. The hand-held pendant also has teach function for programming and storing up to ten special user sequences, ten pre-programmed sequences, LCD display for sequence selection, timer adjustments, diagnostic messages explain the cause for unit faults making troubleshooting easier, two spare inputs and one spare output are available, alarm volume and duration control, and SPI Picker interface is standard.

Optional Part Removal Package Includes:

• Vacuum generator with part verification for mold safety.


• Adjustable end-of-arm tooling with 4 vacuum cups for simple part removal applications.


• Separate timers for sprue grip and vacuum generator allow for independent release of parts and runner on units with second descent slowdown.


• Part removal sequence is pre-programmed or teachable.

  (on select models) allows a lower profile with increased speed and rigidity
• Main arm safety lock prevents accidental descent of the arm in the event of a pressure loss
• Flow controls are easily accessible for adjusting all speeds
• Clean design eliminates stripper frame, allowing use with rack or unscrewing molds
• Wrist rotation improves runner orientation and release consistency (standard on SR-ST model, optional on SR-YS model)
